I went to visit Raj Palace in Colchester a few weeks back with my mum, and I was very surprised at the experience. The staff greeted us in a friendly manner, and brought us to a small table. It was early in the evening, and there weren’t many people in. The establishment was clean, well heated, and the staff were dressed immaculately. Considering the usual restaurant scene in the Colchester area, it was by far one of the best I have visited, and I highly recommend it.

Colchester has around 500 restaurants in the town centre alone. This is rather unusual as far as towns go. Having been a patron of many of them, it’s always nice when you find a true gem! Raj Palace is definitely an Indian restaurant worth visiting, as the food is absolutely fantastic, the staff are helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the interior decorating is brilliant. It’s also worth mentioning that the music was nice, tranquil, and played at a low enough volume to allow for conversation.

I highly recommend their Hari Hari Chicken, a coriander chicken dish, which I had with mushroom rice. The chicken was beautifully seasoned, and the chef had taken great care to make it. I have always found that mushroom rice is an excellent choice to have with any meat dish, and this time was no exception. The dish was served with perfectly chilled coke with ice and lemon.

We took some keema naans ad a mixed starter to go. The naans were very fluffy and the meat was nicely seasoned, and the mixed starter was brilliant!

I’d like to thoroughly thank the staff at Raj Palace for providing me with an exceptional experience, one I’ll be repeating when I get round to it!
