I love Wivenhoe, I’ve spent over 20 years of my life here and frankly this makes me feel old. Here are five of the best stores in Wivenhoe. I’ll give an honourable mention to the One Stop, though I’d like to focus on some of our lesser known but even more amazing (in my opinion) gems, and a dishonourable mention to the Co-Op which ‘forgets’ deals that are on offer, far too regularly. – Though I will say their staff are exceptional. I think it must be company policy as the local Co-Op in Brightlingsea suffers the same affliction. (We don’t get that at the One Stop by the way!)
Wine Well
Wine Well, located in Wivenhoe, serves as a local convenience store, offering a range of everyday products to meet the routine requirements of its customers. They are the second store I’m aware of with the Wine Well brand, (and here’s to many more!)

The convenience of Wine Well lies in its accessibility. It eliminates the need to travel long distances to access basic necessities. Wine Well blends into the local landscape without drawing particular attention. It caters to the day-to-day requirements of its customers, providing a helpful and friendly shopping experience.
Kando Convenience Store
Situated in the town of Wivenhoe, Kando Convenience Store serves as a reliable local retail establishment, much like Wine Well above, dedicated to meeting the everyday needs of its customers, especially when it comes to those tasty American Sweets! (Did you know you can get Cheetos at Kando?)
As a convenience store, Kando Convenience Store places a strong emphasis on providing a wide array of basic items that are integral to daily life. Shoppers can find a selection of goods, including groceries, personal care products, household essentials like bin bags and washing up liquid, and quick snacks. It functions as a dependable source for common items required in day-to-day living.
Kando Convenience Store offers a friendly and respectful customer experience and the staff are very lovely, they always work hard to meet the everyday requirements of their customers.
Wivenhoe Post Office
Nestled in the heart of Wivenhoe, the Wivenhoe Post Office, also known as Wyvern Stores after our mythical protector, stands as a reliable local establishment, offering a range of essential services and everyday products, serving as a dependable hub for both residents and visitors.
The Wivenhoe Post Office is well-positioned to serve the community’s postal needs. Whether it’s sending a letter, receiving a package, or purchasing postage stamps, the post office provides essential solutions.

Red Rocket Music
Red Rocket Music is a hidden treasure in the town, owned by the local musician Fiona Harmon and DJ/Producer Ro Bradley. This unassuming store is a haven for music enthusiasts, offering an eclectic assortment of vinyl records, music prints, gifts, vintage items, books, music gear, and rare merchandise that is often a challenge to find elsewhere.
Red Rocket Music is managed by individuals who share a profound love for music and the unique finds associated with it. Fiona Harmon and Ro Bradley’s passion for music is evident in every corner of this little store which is literally brimming with cool merchandise! It’s definitely a place for anyone to visit, especially if you like music from before the 90s. For those who appreciate the warm crackle of vinyl, Red Rocket Music is a true paradise. The shop houses a diverse collection of vinyl records spanning various genres and eras. From classic rock to indie, jazz to punk, there’s something to satisfy every musical taste.(I wouldn’t class Baby by Justin Bieber as musical taste!)
Vape Ventures
Vape Ventures is a remarkable Vape Shop, the owner of which’s name escapes me, but whose expertise in quitting smoking and knowledge of vaping is truly unparalleled. This establishment stocks an extensive variety of vape fluids and vaping devices, serving as a one-stop destination for all your vaping needs.
